This position is required to effectively communicate with upper management through measured key performance indicators, regarding maintenance, safety and facilities.
The Assistant Terminal Manager is required to have a full understanding of the business unit financials, justifying costs and expenses within the business unit.

Assist in developing, leading and executing strategies related to the business and marketing plans for the Transportation Business Unit.

Assist in establishing company shipping and safety policies and enforce compliance with DOT regulations.
3.
Work with terminal manager to oversee and consult with over 100 Independent Contractor Owner/Operators.
4.
Assist Terminal manager in overseeing and consulting with the Transportation Manager regarding required changes based on shipping data to identify strategies for making routes more efficient.
5.
Collaborate with other managers and staff members to formulate and implement policies, procedures, goals and objectives.
6.
Assisting in promoting safe work activities by working with the Vehicle Maintenance/Safety Manager, attending safety meetings, and meeting with individual staff members.

Maintain/perform daily reporting.

Assist and organize regularly scheduled meetings to enhance staff understanding terminal plan Organizational Relationships:
Creating and fostering relationships with key stakeholders for the business unit with the aim of exceeding and/or meeting customer requirements.
Qualifications Guidelines Experience/Training/Education:
Required:
Minimum 10 years transportation and logistics experience BA degree in Logistics or related field, or equivalent work experience Experience in a mid-sized to large company Experience in managing and working with TMS applications Strong PC skills with Microsoft Office expertise Ability to communicate effectively at all levels of organization Experience in dock management, load optimization, and on-dock consolidations Strong analytical skills and strategic thinking Strong interpersonal skills Ability to delegate/prioritize and complete assigned duties Ability to maintain confidential information
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Ability to communicate to customers effectively, professionally and courteously, work independently with minimal supervision.
Requires knowledge of office practices, recordkeeping, and reporting systems; business correspondence techniques and English composition, grammar, spelling and punctuation; principles of public relations and communications; records management and file maintenance.
Skills required include proficiency in MS Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook, QuickBooks, Carrier Logistics/FACTS TMS software.
Ability to use standard office equipment including telephones, calculators, copiers and facsimile equipment.
Ability to type at the net rate of 35 words per minute using a computer keyboard.
Ability to be courteous and professional; to accept constructive criticism.
Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions; to maintain the confidentiality of data; collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
Add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure; prioritize, organize, and complete tasks independently.
Communicate effectively and work cooperatively with customers, management, other employees, contractors, vendors, and public and private representatives.
Physical and Environmental Elements:
This is position is a combination of an office and warehouse environments.
This is a Warehouse classification.
Employees are exposed to moderate noise levels, with occasional loud noises, such as honking of horns, and may have exposure to fumes, (such as from forklift equipment and vehicles), and may have some exposure to hazardous physical substances.
While performing the duties of this job, a clear speaking voice is necessary and finger dexterity is needed to access, enter and retrieve data using a computer keyboard, and to prepare, assemble, and retrieve documents and materials.
The position regularly walks, stands, bends, stoops, reaches, pushes and pulls, lifts and carries materials that may weigh up to 50 pounds.
