This role monitors the shipping department assembly of orders from processing departments, carrier loading, and floor management to ensure that customer's and company's expectations are met from service and cost points of view.
The shipping Supervisor ensures that daily floor checks are performed, dock is organized, and carrier loading is performed timely and accurately and in compliance with company procedures and best practices.
Qualified candidates must be able to plan, schedule, monitor, direct, and execute the end-to-end, day-to-day shipping activities, labor planning, and shifting resources as needed to adjust to changing business requirements.
Primary duties and responsibilities of this position.
Works with Operations Management to labor Plan - balancing planning and adjustments, SLAs, and company's targets; includes handling uncertainties and emergencies against customer service level agreements Interacts and maintains a good working relationship with customers and carriers Ensures that the team is knowledgeable on necessary and expected processes and ensures that processes are undertaken in an efficient, appropriate, and professional manner.
Uses a coaching approach, and can teach and explain SOP's and processes.
Knows how to hold associates accountable and instill a culture of discipline.
Communicates challenges and recommendations to management Coordinates efforts of team members to move resources around to support business needs Organizes and problem-solves given uncertainties that may present themselves Test and provide feedback on IT tools and opportunities to enhance to improve efficiency and carrier experience.
Superior organization skills and ability to follow up consistently in a fast-paced, changing work environment.
ADDITIONAL SKILLS/PROFESSIONAL CHARACTERISTICS:
Education, formal training, knowledge, skills, abilities, and other characteristics are desired for this position.
Experience and familiarity with floor functions and key performance indicators of warehousing, distribution or supply chain for the retail sector - preferably in apparel and footwear Familiar with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS)- Synapse a plus Basic typing skills Strong communication skills, passionate about creating value for organization and customer needs Excellent employee and team-building skills Willingness to learn HS diploma or equivalent Bi-lingual preferred Job Type:
