Student Affairs Advisor

Position Summary
Supports retention and completion efforts through advising and supporting students with any academic, attendance or personal issues. Has extensive technical knowledge of each area of Student Services to provide back up support as needed.
Principle Accountabilities & Deliverables
Monitors grades and attendance to ensure that students are maintaining satisfactory progress, and academically advises each student who fails for either academic or attendance reasons
Completes paperwork for student withdrawals, leaves of absences, permanent late slips, double coursing, etc.
Acts as a back up for each office under the Student Services Department .
Partners with Education Department to address student issues i.e. discipline, academic, personal, etc.
Partners with parents/guardians to support students' success.
Assists with the Veteran's Benefits process (as assigned).
Assists with the Student VISA process and updating SEVIS appropriately (as assigned).
Assists with Housing Coordinator duties (as assigned).
Assists and hires peer tutors for campus tutoring program (Note:
applies to some campuses).
Assists with various programs on campus i.e. Student Council, student activities, tutoring program, drug testing program, assisting with Open Houses etc. (Programs vary by campus)
Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Education / Experience
4 yr degree in related field preferred but not required.
2-3 years of experience in education field preferred but not required
Skills
Ability to advise and guide adult students in academic and life-skill matters
Computer skills required (i.e., Word, Excel)
Excellent customer service, communication and organizational skills
Ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment with tight deadlines
Positive attitude and willingness to learn
Available flexible hours and some Saturdays
Abilities
Must be able to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 5 pounds 5% or less of the workday
Must be able stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl 5% or less of the workday
Must be able to talk, see, hear, concentrate, think, learn and reason for all of the workday
Must be able to sit and walk or otherwise move around for prolonged periods of time throughout the workday.
Must be able to use a keyboard and do manual tasks for prolonged periods of time throughout the workday.

Work Environment
Work is performed indoors in a climate controlled environment.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
