Psychiatric Technicians are encouraged to consider a part-time employment opportunity with Liberty Healthcare's forensic mental health program at the West Valley Detention Center - one of California's largest county jails.
This unique mental health program is focused on providing high-quality assessment and treatment services to jail inmates who have mental illness and are incompetent to stand trial.
As a Psychiatric Technician with the program, you will fulfill an essential role and be responsible for:
Establishing and maintaining positive therapeutic relationships with patients Promoting a positive therapeutic milieu Encouraging patients to take advantage of the program's available mental health services Monitoring patient behaviors and administering appropriate therapeutic interventions Facilitating psycho-educational groups on various topics such as self-esteem, anger management and impulse control Actively participating in interdisciplinary treatment team meetings and collaborating with Psychiatrists, Psychologists, Therapists, Nurses and security staff Documenting patient's progress and interventions in medical recordsYou can expect a competitive hourly compensation rate.
The schedule for this position is 10 hours per week on either Monday or Friday - daytime hours.
You're a good fit for this position is you possess the following:
Licensure in California as a Psychiatric Technician Experience working in a jail, prison, psychiatric hospital or other mental health program Knowledge of effective therapeutic interventions for people who have mental illness Effective written communication skills and ability to write thorough progress notes Ability to work collaboratively with a multi-disciplinary clinical team Willingness to work in a locked jail settingLiberty Healthcare Corporation provides a wide array of health and human services to people throughout the United States.
